Hi

Our company have a pump and bought a variable frequency drive few days ago, now they want to control the pump by VFD, how to set it?

Hello, the first thing you need to do is input the parameters of the motor into the variable frequency drive, adjust the acceleration and deceleration time properly, determine control mode, local or remote, then what's the given method. Adjust the deceleration mode according to the actual situation of the pumps, if the pump upward then pay attention to water hammer. Adjust the stop mode to ramp parking.

Follow the user manual, it is not difficult, wiring, check the drive and frequency input mode, change the acceleration and deceleration time to a proper value, requiring faster then change the maximum frequency, a little difficult to set the variable frequency drive is to get multi-step speeds, and communication!

Generally, if you drive the pump, it should also need to a pressure gauge, control frequency by the VFD itself, you need to use the internal pid control. I don't know what's the brand of variable frequency drive you bought. Our company with the water supply is the abb mainly used for the residential water supply. Parameters in accordance with the the VFD of the pid set on it. The instructions detailed description. The other brand frequency drives also have similar function. General control pumps by pid regulator, what's need to do is setting PID parameters, and then the acceleration and deceleration time is determined accordingly, but these parameters generally need to be adjusted in the actual field in order to make it optimized.
