If a vendor doesn't have support capability, I would eliminate them from any consideration. No product is flawless. Especially software. No suppot? No sale.

When the vendor has support capability you know where to ask for help when the product does not do what it supposed to do.

As a vendor, it gives you added value for your customers. It places you in a position to be a valued asset, both for service after the sale and as a consultant before the sale.

Dear All, Thanks for your valuable comments, I agree with all of you since that indicates the basic concept but it's not complete answer, let us keep our fingers crossed if we are lucky someone will come here with it. My 30 years experience in Automation as a Total project life support provider for more than 2000 Manufacturing and Utility provider customers in A-P region tells me that if a Business Head in Automation takes need for support as either "Customer satisfaction tool" or "Sales Aid" is orthodox and this is time one must plan retirement.Take a hint from the fact that all the Automation players compete with different support offerings but only when product sale is involved.
